How to deal with your weaknesses

Audio version available:

Undoubtedly we all have weaknesses. If you’re in business you may not be good at finance or if you’re a writer you may not be good at editing. Whoever you are, there are areas you are not good at.

Instead of lying to yourself about your weaknesses and strengths, you should learn to identify, accept, and learn how to deal with them. There are a few steps you can take to improve yourself and deal with your weaknesses.

  • Identify and accept your weaknesses – The first step to changing anything is identifying and acknowledging it.
  • Request transparency from people around you – Prefer that people around you are honest with you and don’t keep their negative thoughts about you to themselves
  • Surround yourself with people that are better at it than you are – If your bad at finance but good at sales, surround yourself with people good at finance to optimize your team and efforts.

Taking these steps will optimize whatever you do. Remember to always encourage transparency and honesty from people around you. People sugar coding their thoughts will not make you a better person. It’s better to take the harsh truth than to be the same old person everyday.

Lastly, don’t be ashamed of your weaknesses. All of us have areas we are not good at. Accepting reality will only move you closer to being the best you, if you refuse to accept reality. You will only generate counter productive results.
