How to create a following and have influence over people

Audio version available:

People have an overwhelming desire to believe in something. Become the focal point of such desire by offering them a cause, something new to follow. The desire to follow and worship a cause or something is why people believe in religions, god, and philosophies like capitalism, communism, democracy, and more.

Once upon a time, there used to be a guy called Martin. He wanted to change the world and stop inequality in all aspects of life. In order to attain this goal, he utilized resources like social media to create a philosophy or a cause to believe in.

He created a philosophy where like-minded individuals could fight for the same cause. Individuals can’t always influence a whole society, but philosophies can. Philosophies and beliefs are immortal, immune to time. Martin understood this and used his beliefs to create a cult-like following.

Believing in equality and freedom of opportunity was turned into something like a religion, a cause people were willing to fight for. When Martin looked at history, individuals that failed to change things were people that tried to use themselves instead of creating a cult-like following.

The new following and popularity of Martin and his philosophy gave him immense power. He could make his followers do anything for him. If he decided to run for president, his followers would vote for him. If he started a new project, his followers would support and help him. If someone attacked him, his followers attacked them.

All of this popularity and influence came from creating a cult-like following that believed in a cause or philosophy. When we look back at history, we see individuals attain power and influence by creating cult-like followings. Just think about what people are willing to do for Jesus.
